Vermiculite
Vermiculite is a natural, lightweight, and fire-resistant mineral used in construction, horticulture, and insulation applications. When heated, it expands into a porous, accordion-like structure, giving it excellent thermal and acoustic insulation properties. In construction, vermiculite is widely used as a component in lightweight concrete, plaster, and insulation boards—particularly for fireproofing steel structures and improving energy efficiency in buildings. It is also non-toxic, chemically inert, and resistant to mold and mildew.
